40% increase in bankruptcies

According to the Norwegian Statistical Office (SSB), the increase in the number of bankruptcies continues.

Such high numbers have not been recorded since the first quarter of 2019. In the first quarter of this year, 1317 open bankruptcies were registered.

- High electricity prices and rising interest rates are probably influential reasons for this development, says section manager Erik Fjærli.

The largest percentage increase was recorded in fylke Nordland and Vestland, with 69 and 57 percent more bankruptcies respectively compared to the same period last year. The biggest increase in absolute numbers, however, can be found in Viken with 108 consecutive bankruptcies. None of the fylkes recorded a decrease in the number of bankruptcies.

Bankruptcies of enterprises

1090 bankruptcy applies to businesses, excluding sole proprietorships. This represents 318 more bankruptcies than during the same period last year, an increase of 41 percent. 28 percent IN construction industry was 28 percent company bankruptcy, and 20 percent concerned trade in goods and repairs in the automotive industry.

Sole proprietorships and natural persons

The remaining 227 bankruptcies include sole proprietorships and bankruptcies of individuals, an increase of 37 percent. 38 percent of them are found in the construction industry. The number of bankruptcies in this industry increased by 4 percent. compared to the first quarter of last year.
