Finnmarksløpet is Europe's longest and toughest dog sled race, held annually in the Norwegian region of Finnmark. The race route is over 1000 km long and runs through arctic landscapes, with passing towns and villages along the way. The race is one of the most important sports and cultural events in northern Norway, attracting the attention of both the local community and the media from around the world. Finnmarksløpet is also an important source of promotion for the region and attracts tourists interested in unique experiences in arctic conditions.

Now, as proposed by the government, NOK 1 million has been allocated in the revised national budget to support Finnmarksløpet.

“The government wants to create conditions for business development and promotion of the northern regions. Finnmarksløpet is a well-established brand that contributes to the promotion of the region both at home and abroad. This event is important for the entire region, creating local engagement and value in the form of jobs and increased demand for local goods and services,” says Minister of Economy Jan Christian Vestre.
