The war unfolding in Ukraine is painful and we are deeply concerned about everyone it directly or indirectly affects. Our top priority and immediate action was the safety of our employees and their families and will continue to be so.

War has a huge impact on people. It also causes serious disruptions to the supply chain and commercial conditions, so we have decided to halt IKEA's operations in Russia.

It means:

  • Inter IKEA Group has decided to suspend all exports and imports to and from Russia and Belarus.
  • Inter IKEA Group has decided to stop all production at IKEA Industri in Russia. This means that all deliveries from all subcontractors are suspended.
  • The Ingka Group has decided to suspend all IKEA Retail operations in Russia while MEGA shopping centers will remain open.

These decisions directly affect 15 IKEA employees. IKEA will ensure employment and income stability and provide support to them and their families in the region.

Several initiatives have been taken across IKEA with recognized humanitarian organizations. All this to support the victims of emergencies in the most needed regions.

The IKEA Foundation, funded by the Ingka Foundation, today announced an immediate € 20 million humanitarian donation to those who were forcibly displaced as a result of the conflict in Ukraine. This is in response to an emergency call by UNHCR, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, to increase assistance and protection for those affected by the conflict in Ukraine.

In addition, Inter IKEA Group and Ingka Group are currently providing € 10 million each in product support and other aid to UNHCR, Save the Children and other organizations operating in local markets.

The situation is very critical and is developing rapidly. IKEA is committed and in this context, with the best for the people involved as a top priority.
