“The most important thing for us was to find the most equitable solution for as many pupils as possible,” says Morten Rosenkvist, director of the Norwegian Directorate of Education.
Many candidates who took the exam on Monday had problems logging in. The Norwegian Directorate of Education has now decided that schools will apply for a collective cancellation of the exam on behalf of the pupils concerned. It is up to the student to decide whether or not he/she wants to be included on this list.
“The situation on Monday affected the students in different ways. Therefore, there is no perfect solution that everyone accepts as fair. However, we believe that this solution is the best and at the same time can be implemented quickly, says Rosenkvist.

From Monday, the Education Authority is obtaining information from poviat councils and schools to find out what should be done about the situation of people affected by delays.
– We are touched by the individual stories of those affected by the delay. At the same time, others passed the exam without problems, which they are happy about. Both of these factors were important to this decision, says Rosenkvist.
The Directorate of Education also held meetings with teachers' organisations, the association of school leaders, the SC and the Pupils' Organization to introduce the best possible solution.
– The Student Organization is very pleased with the cooperation with UDIR this week and with the upcoming solution. Monday's exams have been a disaster for many students and a positive experience for others, so it is important and right for you to make the effort to let the student choose whether or not to cancel the exam. This is how we take care of everyone, says the new leader of the Student Organization, Petter Andreas Lona.
