Kattfjordeidet dog attacked while tied up - bled to death on the way to the vet.

The owners of the dog are in shock after the loss of a beloved family member. Now they hope the public will be better informed about securing dogs to prevent further tragedies.

Painful news over the phone

Margareth and Dawid received heartbreaking news over the phone. Their dog Oscar is dead. He was attacked by another Haski dog and bled to death on the way to the vet. The Yorkshire Terrier was a small dog whose owners were in constant contact and distraught after receiving this terrible news.

They were on vacation themselves when they received this tragic news. “I got a call that Oscar was dead. Our friends cried on the phone - says touched Dawid. Thanks to the intervention of our friends, we found out who is the owner of the murderer's dog that bit our Oscar. The police confirm that a report has been received in this regard.

Fatal attack while walking

The incident took place on Saturday. The dog was taken care of by friends during the owners' holidays. They took the kids and dogs for a walk, the weather was fine. The dogs were tied to a tree in the shade where they could lie quietly. Suddenly, 2 Haski dogs appeared. Completely unattended freely moving in a place where many children play with their pets. The owner of these dogs turned out to be irresponsible not for the first time. We know that such things have happened.

Oscar's guardians summarized the course of events in a statement to the police. “As our dogs started barking, one of the huskies attacked. The Yorkshire terrier was close, so the husky bit him,” he explains.

Kattfjordeidet

Sudden attack

What started off as a nice walk ended up being a real nightmare. It happened in front of many people, children and others on the spot were shocked. The owner of the dog was quickly located, but he took the whole matter with a smile on his face.

Fear of further attacks

David and Margareth, the owners of Oscar, are concerned that the dogs may attack again. The area where Oscar appeared is a vacation spot in the summer. “Who knows how this dog might also react to children and other people,” they wonder. We do not know if the rules of conduct for dogs by their owners are known. In Tromsø Municipality, there is an order to keep dogs on a leash from April 1 to August 20.

Legal consequences

The law regarding dogs is clear – the owner of the dog must react and prevent unauthorized attacks on other dogs. The owner of an attacked dog has the right to intervene, according to the law. The police can take several actions, including imposing a fine and putting the dog to sleep. In Tromsø, the police are unfortunately reluctant to take any action at least in this case. Perhaps they are waiting for tragedies that may eventually affect the parents of the "accidentally bitten child".
