Now you can reserve your PESEL number

Do you want to reserve your PESEL number so that no one can use it without your knowledge? Or maybe you want to revoke the restriction of your PESEL number in order to, for example, take out a loan? Check how you can do it online or at the office.

From June 1, 2024, financial institutions (e.g. banks) will be obliged to verify whether the PESEL number is reserved when concluding, for example, a credit or loan agreement.
Until then, you can reserve or withdraw your PESEL number, but legal consequences will only apply to events that will occur from June 1, 2024.

How to do it online?

To use the service, you need a trusted profile, a qualified signature, e-ID or login details for electronic banking. Check how to set up a trusted profile or jhow to use e-ID.

Who can benefit

Anyone who has a PESEL number and is of age.

What you need to do

  1. Click the Reserve PESEL button or withdraw your reservation and log in. The system will take you to mObywatel.gov.pl.
  2. Select the Your data section and then PESEL Objection Register.
  3. Select Restrict PESEL or Unregister.

If you want to unblock your PESEL number, you can do it:

  • indefinitely or
  • specify the date and time when the system will automatically reserve your PESEL number again.

Who can benefit

Everyone who:

  • has a PESEL number,
  • he is of age.

What you need to prepare

  • If you are:
    • Polish citizen – ID card or passport,
    • foreigner - a foreigner's travel document or another document confirming identity and citizenship,
    • a citizen of Ukraine or the spouse of a citizen of Ukraine without Ukrainian citizenship and:
      • you have a PESEL number with UKR status,
      • you do not have any of the documents mentioned above

– another document on the basis of which your identity was established when granting UKR status.

What you need to do

  1. Download and complete the application at home or do it at your municipal office. You can also ask the officer to print the completed application from the system. If the official prints out your application from the system, check whether the data is correct.
  2. Sign the application.
  3. Submit an application.

You submit such an application at any municipal office. The service is free and will be completed immediately. The official will accept the application, enter it into the system and issue you with confirmation of blocking or withdrawing your PESEL number.
