On Thursday, January 20.01, there were demonstrations against high electricity prices in Oslo, Kristiansand, Bergen, Stavanger, Arendal and Harstad.

Members of the Facebook group "We Who Demand Cheaper Electricity" were called out on Thursday evening. To show what they think about electricity prices. As of this writing, the group has 585 members.

Earlier in the afternoon, a lot of protesters appeared with posters with the slogan "Yes to political control of power" under the auspices of the Industrial Action. An action group is a collaboration between several unions and clubs in various industrial unions in LO.

The demands of the action group include the suspension of energy exports when the reservoirs are low. Additionally, predictable and long-term energy prices for industry and agriculture and a system for setting maximum prices electricity prices for households.

Export and control

Among the appellants was FRP leader Sylvi Listhaug.

- We have to deal with the situation and stop this absurdity. The state earns a fortune, the public sector receives an additional NOK 30-40 billion in support. While ordinary people are bleeding out financially, Listhaug tells the NTB.

Support for the actions of the action group regarding the control of energy exports.

- We have to take care not to export so much that we run out of stocks. We are concerned that Norwegian electricity consumers will not pay for the European climate and energy policy that has sprung out of control.

The Progress Party is dissatisfied with government support systems and believes that the maximum price will simplify the system, rather than creating new systems for each individual sector in society.

Maximum price

Nobody but leader Rødt Bjørnar Moxnes, who also stood behind the microphone in front of the Storting, agrees with him on Thursday.

– Our requirement is the maximum price for the entire project electricity for customers in Norway at the rate of 35 øre per kilowatt hour. This is Moxnes for VG.

He doesn't think the government will understand the gravity of the situation, even though the electricity subsidy has been increased from 55 percent to 80 percent for January and February.

- If you are being robbed and the robber gives back 80 percent of what he took from you, should you be grateful for it? The pleasure is all mine. It's robbery, which is a fact, says Moxnes.
