Polish Night of Museums
The European Night of Museums will take place on May 19. As every year, many Polish institutions will organize special events on this occasion. Although most of them will celebrate from Saturday to Sunday, those located in Krakow have decided to stand out - events on this occasion will be held here exceptionally from Friday to Saturday.
Not only visiting the exhibits
It is worth noting that the European Night of Museums is not only an opportunity to see the exhibits. During this time, performances are staged, city games are organized, and numerous concerts are held. On a daily basis, unknown spaces of public administration buildings are also opening up - for example, it is a tradition to make the town hall in Słupsk available to visitors. Objects traditionally regarded as entertainment also join the campaign. This is the case, for example, in the Copernicus Science Center in Warsaw. Especially for this occasion, Slow-mo film screenings will be organized, which will enable a detailed analysis of the experiments carried out.
Protest in the background
The Night of Museums will not be peaceful in all cities. Employees of Katowice institutions have announced that they will protest on this day. This mainly applies to the employees of the Museum of the History of Katowice. They demand a PLN 800 gross salary increase, as well as additional investments in waste computer equipment. It is worth noting that - as representatives of NSZZ "Solidarity" claim - salaries have not been raised for many years. It happens that even specialists in their fields work for 2. PLN net.
Personnel changes in the Azoty group
According to a spokesman for Grupa Azoty, Wojciech Wardacki was reappointed president. Moreover, Mariusz Grab, who will hold the position of vice-president, joined the management board. This means that the current policy of this state-owned company will be continued. It is worth mentioning that it is currently the second largest producer of nitrogen and compound fertilizers in the entire EU. The Grupa Azoty Group manufactures such products as: melamine, caprolactam, polyamide, alcohols and titanium white, which are also important products on the European market.
The Seym of Children and Youth canceled
The annual Seym of Children and Youth was canceled. As the Chancellery of the Sejm informs, it is dictated by the reasons of "safety of all people staying in the buildings". Originally, it was supposed to take place on June 1, but the date was eventually moved to September. The exact date is not yet known.
Two reasons
There are unofficially two reasons for the dismissal of the Seym for Children and Youth. First of all, this is to be caused by the ongoing protest of families with disabled children in the Sejm building. The second reason is to prepare for the organization of the NATO summit to be held on May 25-28. For the same reasons, for the first time in many years, the Sejm will not be open during the European Night of Museums.
