There is no denying that it was a very important, historical moment that changed the face of Germany, Europe and the entire world. On the night of November 9 to November 10, 1989, the Berlin Wall was demolished. Today marks the 30th anniversary of this event. Let's remember this important moment. Commemoration ceremonies were held in Germany. They were attended by, among others, the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda.
30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall - celebrations!
President Andrzej Duda, but not only, took part in the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the destruction of the Berlin Wall. The presidents of the Czech Republic - Milosz Zeman, the presidents of Slovakia - Zuzana Czaputova and the presidents of Hungary - Janos Ader also appeared. In his special speech, President Andrzej Duda emphasized, among other things, that Poland had a very significant impact on... system changes.
“The freedom that finally tipped the scales of history was Poland of 1988 and 1989. The round table first, and then the first elections, not fully free in truth, but still partially democratic. - Andrzej Duda stated firmly. He also noted that the fall of the Wall had a practical, but also symbolic dimension - it had awakened Poles and Europe-wide aspirations for freedom.
The Fall of the Berlin Wall - What Was It Like?
As we wrote above, the fall of the Berlin Wall had a very important dimension. It is like the beginning of the end of the Cold War and communism in Europe. The over 150 km long fortification system separated West Berlin from East Berlin for 28 years. On November 9, the border crossings opened, and the German nation, as well as the whole of Europe, was flooded with hope for a new, historic as if there had been no cards to be dealt. Politics, the course of history, social life, and finally the functioning of the whole of Europe were to change from that moment on. Change of course for the better. Important changes and modifications have started.
