From January 1, 2024, the 3-day waiting period for unemployment benefits (dagpenger) will no longer apply. It will be replaced by a deduction that will be taken in connection with the payment of unemployment benefits.
The deduction will be calculated once the person is approved for a new one period of receiving benefits unemployed. This amount will be calculated individually and will be equal to 3 times the amount to which the recipient of benefits is entitled for one day.
There will be no requirements as to how quickly this "deduction" must be repaid.

When reapplying for unemployment benefits, provided you have worked for at least 12 weeks, you may request recalculating the basis benefits (dagpengegrunnlag). This calculation only takes place if it serves the interests of the recipient of unemployment benefits.
As of March 2021, NAV was assessing whether the new benefit base calculation would benefit all renewal claimants who had worked for at least 12 weeks, even if the claimant did not request it. This practice has now been introduced to Social Insurance Act § 4-16.
Changing the child allowance for unemployment benefits
From January 1, 2024, allowance for child in unemployment benefits will increase from CZK 35 to CZK 36. This change applies to both people already receiving benefits and those who will be granted benefits from the 1st January 2024 year.
Holiday supplement to unemployment benefit
The system of holiday allowances for unemployment benefits will continue and will be the same as in 2023.
Everyone who received unemployment benefits for more than 8 weeks in 2023 will receive it holiday allowance in 2024. This supplement will amount to 9,5% of benefits unemployment benefits paid in 2023 and will generally be paid in June.
