Norwegian language required

Worth knowingthat a serious limitation is the possibility of completing first-cycle studies only in Norwegian. No exceptions to this rule are expected. An additional stage of recruitment to each university is the Bergenstest language test at a minimum level of B2. This exam is divided into an oral and written part. Knowledge of Norwegian history, culture and literature is also tested.

Free summer courses

Free ones are helpful for linguistically gifted people summer language courses. They are organized by Norwegian universities. Their task is to prepare future students for the upcoming academic year.

Only a master's degree in English

Students who intend to attend second-cycle studies are in a slightly better situation. Classes in English are held, among others: at the University of Oslo, Stavanger, Tromso or at Norwegian Academy Music. Finances

The second barrier is the cost of studying. The semester tuition alone costs between NOK 300 and NOK 600. This is the so-called a semester fee, the payment of which entitles the student to numerous discounts - e.g public transport, cinema or theater tickets, etc.

Student loan

Similarly to Poland, in Norway it is possible to obtain preferential treatment student loan. People who do not live with their parents can apply for up to 11 Norwegian kroner per month. However, remember that every loan must be repaid someday.

There are also grants that play the role of Polish social scholarships. They are also available to students coming from abroad. You can apply for it after official admission to studies and obtaining a residence permit. It is possible to apply online too using this website.

Working student

It is also worth considering the possibility of taking up paid work - if the education program allows it. However, it should be remembered that, unlike in Poland, the opportunities for a student to work are limited Norway regulated by law laws. He cannot work more than 20 hours a week and 3 months a year. These regulations do not apply to summer periods in which you can work full time.

About studying in Norway. Apartment in a dormitory

Everyone studying in Norway has the right to live in a residence hall. For this purpose, an appropriate application must be submitted at the university. The forms differ depending on the academic center. To get it, go to the social office. The cost of renting such a room ranges from NOK 1500 to 2000, and additionally there are fees of about NOK 250. Before moving in, you must also pay a deposit and pay the rent for two months in advance.

Study in Norway - Residence permit

Regardless of whether a foreigner wants to study or work in Norway, everyone must have a valid residence permit. They can be obtained at the Polish Embassy in Norway or visit the website of the Norwegian Immigration Office. After registering online, collect the necessary documents and go to the nearest one police stationto authenticate the submitted report.
