The guests of the next Wataha Live! were: one of the best survivalists in the world, Piotr Czuryłło, as well as the organizers of survival and training in Norway - Michał Gepner and Sebastian Darnikowski. We talked about what it means to be a survivor, what to prepare for and how to survive in the event of a disaster.

Like us on Facebook you will always be up to date.

What are we facing?

- Each of us is afraid of something different - says Piotr Czuryłło - some are afraid of a storm, some are afraid of natural disasters or financial crises, some are afraid of political and armed conflicts. The range of threats is wide. In 2000, we were afraid of the millennium bedbug, in 2012, the end of the world, announced by the Mayan Calendar, was to come. Every now and then a piece of foreign matter will fall to Earth - and it is known from history that it ended differently for our planet. That is why it is worth getting ready to survive potential disasters.

Why is it worth preparing for disasters?

Our guest emphasizes that the frequent consequences of natural disasters were the shifting back of the civilization development by several hundred, and sometimes even several thousand years back. In turn, man by nature has a tendency to irritate the management of the Earth's natural resources. Should there be any major catastrophe, it may turn out that humanity will be forced to learn again to use what nature offers it.

Survive on your own

At the same time, it is worth emphasizing that in the face of a cataclysm, it is not worth waiting for the state or other institution to help us and our family. As Piotr Czuryłło points out, even German Chancellor Angela Merkel recently appealed to her countrymen to have warm clothes and food supplies for 5-6 days in the event of a disaster. During this time, they would be safe until they were helped.

Despite the fact that we belong to a specific state system and international institutions, there is no certainty that we will be given immediate help. Therefore, it is best to prepare for possible disasters in order to ensure the safety of your family.

Survival as a learning resource

Michał Gepner drew attention to an interesting issue. The art of survival is also an attractive way to spend time with your family. And at the same time, it is a way to learn how to be resourceful in life for our children. Many people currently lack this skill. Survival, however, teaches rational resource management, tracking, fishing and general coping with difficult situations. Thanks to this, the youngest family members will be better prepared for the challenges that await them in adulthood.

Universal access to weapons?

As Piotr Czuryłło himself admitted, he is the owner of many types of weapons, and has also completed all the necessary training. All this to learn how to use them. Thanks to this, it will not hurt either itself or anyone in the immediate vicinity. However, he believes that not everyone should have free access to weapons. There are a number of ways to check whether a given person can be licensed to have it or not. It is against the fact that such permits are issued administratively. They must be preceded by training in the field of operation, as well as psychological tests. However, the clerk cannot decide about it.

Where to Prepare to Survive in Norway?

Michał Gepner points out that the art of survival can be useful even in everyday situations in Norway. Also during, for example, a weekend trip outside the city. He emphasizes that the country has many places where cellular coverage is disappearing. There are also several Scandinavian predator species. It can even be a deep cut in a place remote from civilization. Therefore, it is worth mastering the art of survival in order to deal with situations that can happen to anyone.

Travel & Fishing Norway - what is it?

Sebastian Darnikowski is the founder of a group on Facebook called "Travel & Fishing Norway". Its goal is to create a map of Norway, where you can find ideas and inspirations for a fun weekend and time. It is an interactive project, also created by Internet users. In addition to the photo of a given place, there is also an extensive description, which includes: where and how we can go, what are the distances, what is the terrain, etc. This allows you to find out if a given place is suitable for visiting it with, for example, a five-year-old baby.
