- I am very glad that we have reached an agreement with the parties on the settlement of wages in the state - says the minister of local government and the district of Sigbjørn Gjelsvik.

- Bread and milk are just as expensive for someone who makes 350 as it is for someone who makes a million, says Gjelsvik.

In April, the parties did not reach an agreement on the negotiations, therefore they mediated with the Ombudsman. The mediation deadline was midnight on Monday, but the mediation lasted until Tuesday afternoon.

There will be no strike. Agreement was reached

Wage settlement in Norway is based on the so-called subject model of the first line. This means that the competitive industry is the first to negotiate. The results of these negotiations form the framework for the rest of the payroll. To avoid a major strike, the state accepted the draft of the Ombudsman. The agreement means that the public sector will receive a salary increase of 3,8 percent.

-  It is very important for us to stick to a front model that serves Norway well. Provides jobs, welfare systems and the competitiveness of Norway. When it turned out that the parties failed to reach an agreement within the framework, the mediator presented a draft of the solution that we decided to accept. The alternative would be to launch a major strike in the country, at all costs, says Gjelsvik.

The strike in the budget sector was ended

This year's settlement is the main settlement in which all elements of the main collective agreements have been negotiated. The Ministry of Local and Poviat Self-Government represents the state in negotiations with the main associations.
