The Polish national team won in their last match against Japan 1-0. The goal for Biało-Czerwonych was scored by Jan Bednarek. Unfortunately, we did not leave the group. It was achieved by teams from Japan and Colombia, which won 1-0 against Senegal. There is nothing to hide - a certain stage has been completed.

Although they saved the honor
This year's World Cup was not supposed to look like this. We traveled with great hopes, awakened already during EURO 2016. The FIFA ranking was not without significance, although it was openly downplayed by many, to some extent proves the level of individual teams. We lost the opening match against Senegal 2: 1. The second match was about everything for the Polish and Colombian teams. It turned out that the Columbians were beyond our reach, as evidenced by the extent of the defeat. We lost this match 3: 0, practically posing no threat to the opponent's goal.
They presented themselves much better
Rafał Kurzawa, who was not recognized by the coach in the previous two matches, was in the starting line-up of the Polish national team for the match against Japan. As it turned out, this decision was a hit. The midfielder played a great match and it was after his cross that Jan Bednarek scored a goal. Without going into details, the Poles played a much better match and showed the game that impressed us for a long time World Championships. A bizarre situation occurred at the end of the match - the Japanese, satisfied with the result, started exchanging passes, which significantly reduced the artistic value of the match.
Co dalej?
Now the athletes will return to the country. Before any decisions are made, they must be preceded by factual analyzes. The World Cup turned out to be a disappointment, that's true. Internet users poured a bucket of decent hatred on our players and the selector. While understandable, it remains moot to support this. It is up to the PZPN Management Board, including its President Zbigniew Bońska, whether Nawałka will remain in the position of the selector or will resign from it.
A bit of optimism
In conclusion, it is worth emphasizing one thing - despite the terrible performance, there are premises that fill a note of optimism. Although the era of players like Błaszczykowski or Piszczek is ending, there are new players who knock on the first team more and more boldly. We are talking about such figures as Jan Bednarek, Rafał Kurzawa or the still young Piotr Zieliński. Regardless of whether Nawałka will remain the manager or be replaced by someone else - he will face the challenge of building a completely new team. One that will delight Polish fans again and provide as many positive emotions as the Nawałka team during EURO 2016.
