It is normal for modern man to have a toilet and we do not think about what would happen if we did not have one. We are aware that there are countries in the world that still have problems with this. One such place is India.

More temples than toilets

India belongs to a country with more Hindu temples than toilets. This is news that shocks many people in this world, but as the Indian economy grows, its power finally decided to take care of the hygiene of its citizens.

Sanitary hygiene problem

Unfortunately, the problem in India is very great. Its enormity is both frightening and shocking. Martin Caparros, an Argentine reporter who, in his book Hunger, considered one of the most important non-fiction books of recent years, wrote: “Half of the inhabitants of Mumbai do not have a bathroom, so people defecate wherever they fall. Some years ago, someone calculated that six or seven million adults defecate each day in neighborhoods in Mumbai. If we take an average of half a kilo, that equates to 3 tons of manure every morning - which either spills over in sewage-like streams or clusters around huts and tracks. "

Mahatma Gandhi

He is considered by many Indians as the father of the modern state. It was he who argued that human hygiene was more important than independence.

Pure India

This slogan guides the program of the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, who set the goal of his activity to build 111 million toilets. He promised that in 2019, the year that marks Gandhi's 150th birthday, each Indus will have their own private toilet. Currently, 80 million toilets have been installed. This program additionally includes cleaning rivers of sewage and overcoming the problem that affects the large amount of litter in cities and villages.

A good change

Third world countries are still far behind us. Over 795 million people in this world suffer from hunger, do not have access to basic things such as running water or electricity. As we read the information above, let us be full of hope that the change that follows will bring only good.
