Autumn has come to Norway for good and it is getting closer and closer. On the other hand, the snow spreads more and more boldly on the local roads. As announced by the Meteorological Institute, the temperature in the north and south of the country will drop below zero tonight. It will be slightly warmer during the day on Thursday and Friday. However, this is only a short-term weather forecast. In addition, residents of not all parts of Norway will enjoy favorable weather conditions.
It will freeze at night
Weather forecasters agree that the temperatures will drop below zero in virtually all of Norway during the night from Wednesday to Thursday. It is expected to warm up slightly during the day of Thursday and such weather may last until Friday. However, this is a short-term forecast - from Friday it will be getting colder again.

Winter will come the fastest in the mountains
Magni Svanevik - a meteorologist from Vervarslinga in northern Norway - warns drivers that winter will arrive in the mountains much faster than in the rest of the country. The lower limit of the snow cover will be 700 to 1000 meters above sea level in Hordaland and Sogn og-Fjordane. You can expect it a bit lower in Møre og Romsdal. However, the further north you go, the faster you will encounter snow on mountain roads.
Negative temperatures and snow on the roads
Statens Vegvesen has issued weather warnings for drivers intending to hike the mountains. They recommend following the current traffic situation to be prepared for a trip in winter conditions. Low pressure system
On Thursday, the low pressure system will start reaching Norway. With it, slightly higher temperatures will come, as well as rains and strong winds. Residents of western and northern Norway can expect rainfall. It will rain in areas below 1400 meters above sea level. In addition, storms can be expected off the coast of Hordaland, Rogaland and Vest-Agder.

It will be slightly better in the eastern part of the country, where you can also expect the end of night frosts. During the day, temperatures will rise to 8-10 degrees Celsius. You can expect little snowfall in the higher parts of the mountains.
