The Lerkekåsa vineyard is the northernmost of its kind. For many years it has been run by the couple Joar Sættem and Wenche Sættem. Now the couple have decided to put it up for sale. As they say - the production is not large, but exclusive.

Northern rose wine

The Lerkekåsa vineyard produces rosé wine. According to the owner - Joar Sættem - it is a product made in the most northerly place in the world. Therefore, this wine is perceived as very exclusive, although the vineyard itself does not have much production.

The couple opened their belongings in 2008. In the beginning, they grew 400 vines, now there are 1300 of them. The biggest challenge was finding plants that would survive the harsh Norwegian winter. After years of experimenting, they discovered that the Hasanski Sladki varieties from Russia and the Solaris grape developed in Germany work best under these conditions.

The microclimate is favorable for vines

Joar Sættem's dream was to create a fully functioning vineyard that would be appreciated by wine connoisseurs around the world. He is a geologist by training, thanks to which he was able to find a place with a suitable microclimate for growing vines. That is why Lerkekåsa was opened in Gvarv - a village in the Telemark county. The specific conditions of this place make it one of the warmest in Norway.

“We hope to find passionate people like us”

Wenche Sættem, on the other hand, believes that the vineyard will be bought by enthusiasts like herself. The task of the new buyer will not be easy, but as Lerkekås has developed, it is possible to set up a series production. An additional benefit for the future owner is the fact that the facility is also equipped with banquet rooms and rooms for rent.
