Kombi will perform in Norway on October 6th. We were able to interview an exceptional man, the founder of the group - Sławomir Łosowski. Almost 50 years on the music scene have resulted in many impressions, which our interlocutor decided to share in part on the pages of the portal.

Nearly 50 years on the stage

Sławomir Łosowski began his musical career in 1969, when he founded his first vocal and instrumental project, Akcenty. The first concerts took place in the "Gzyms" club, which was visited mainly by builders. The band performed under this name until 1976, when the name was changed to a more modern one - Kombi. Since then, the group has changed its musical direction from avant-garde to rock.

Have you already played concerts in Norway?

We haven't played in Norway so fardespite the fact that we have performed in many other countries. We had the most trips outside Poland in the 80s, we performed several times in Sweden. These were not particularly great festivals, but rather normal concerts organized by the Poles who live there, and they do a bit of show business. In Sweden, we even recorded a single which was organized by one of them.

What convinced you to perform in this country?

There was no need to convince me to do this, or to any other performance. We were offered a concert in Norway, which we gladly agreed to. Currently, as I heard many compatriots in Norway, this is probably why the organizers decided to organize our concert. For us, concerts are the essence of being a musician. It is during them that we have the opportunity to interact with the audience, which gives us a lot of satisfaction and joy from playing.

What other countries have you performed in? Which of them surprised the most?

As I mentioned, in other countries we played the most in the 80's. At that time we had the opportunity to perform in Morocco, in 1983 to be exact. The trip to this country was the most surprising in every respect - not only culturally.

Almost 50 years ago you started your adventure with music. What were the most special moments?

Before starting my music career, I didn't think about practicing music professionally. My friend - drummer persuaded me to do it. The pretext was to play in a randomly assembled line-up in the Gdańsk club "Gzyms". Mainly construction workers came there, which was indicated by the name itself (laughs). It was only then that I felt the joy of playing on stage. At that time, I made up my mind that I really wanted to do this and also that I wanted to live off it. And that was that special moment.

50 years on stage also means many concerts. Which of them was the most important?

The characteristic feature of a musical career is that it gains momentum after certain specific events. In my opinion, one of such moments was the establishment of cooperation with the Baltic Artistic Agency in the 70s. Thanks to it, we had the opportunity to perform at many important events, and the first major concert was the one performed on August 2, 1976 at the Sopot Forest Opera as part of the Musical Confrontations "Pop Session ".

There were also other significant events in the life of the Kombi team. These include, for example, a performance at the 1980st National Young Generation Music Festival in Jarocin in 1984. The most important event in the history of KOMBI was participation in XNUMX in KFPP in Opole and winning in the "Premieres" competition with the song "Sweet Nice Life". We repeated this success this year in Opole and we won the competition "Hit for the World Cup" with the song "Polish team".

In your musical career, you have used many instruments, both analog, classical and digital. Which of them surprised you the most with its sound?

There is not much choice here. The most important instrument for me is the legendary five-voice Prophet 5. Apart from the shortcomings of the first edition, I was delighted with its sound from the very beginning. The Prophet 5 offers the possibility of giving your own character and style of playing, this instrument is able to convey the whole character of the musician using it. I have already used it in many songs and it has a leading role to this day. He is as close to me as my glasses or clothes are (laughs), I just know him by heart.

What are your musical inspirations?

I am not looking for inspiration in the musical genres themselves. My work was influenced by music from all over the world, representatives of various genres and musical trends. You cannot define a narrow group of people or species. At the same time, the musical inspirations are really different, and I used them mainly in the 80s and occasionally. It should be emphasized, however, that the inspiration did not concern musical compositions, but only the performance elements of the piece, i.e. the arrangement. They consisted, for example, in being inspired by the elements of an arrangement of a Western piece and using KOMBI in the music. It's quite common for musicians and music producers.

However, my greatest inspirations came from outside the world of music. So I created what was in my soul, using the language of music and sounds. And it is so today. I always try to put my heart into my work. I've had a lot of good things in my life and I have a lot to draw from. Music composed by me and performed by KOMBI is therefore very personal.

What is the most fascinating musician in life?

My musical activity is based on two pillars that give me the most joy. The first of them are concerts during which the greatest satisfaction is associated with interaction with the audience. The second pillar, however, is creative work with instruments.

What are your musical plans for the near future? Are you currently working on a new album?

We recently adopted a policy of recording and publishing single songs. Currently, albums are not such an important medium anymore. We are currently reaching for the songs from the latest album "Nowy Album", which we released in 2016 on the occasion of the 40th anniversary. There are many songs on it that have great musical potential that we have not promoted. We will continue to present them on our YouTube channel and more. And now we are mixing pieces recorded with the Szczecin Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra during a joint concert on August 24 in the concert hall of this Philharmonic.
