Problems with trains in Norway. Work on the new system is underway

Improvements are to be introduced as a result of the implementation of the new railway system. The current solution does not meet the expectations placed in it, therefore it is to be replaced by a common system for all European countries - ERTMS. The benefits for passengers are to be, among others more stable and punctual connections. It is also expected to increase the level of safety and the overall efficiency of Norwegian railways.

Not sooner than 2030

The unified system is to cost approximately NOK 26,6 billion. This is an important undertaking from the point of view of improving the Norwegian railway lines, the punctuality of which currently leaves much to be desired. However, the technological advancement of this solution and the estimated cost mean that changes should be waited for at least until 2030.
