Alleged use of Pegasus spyware
Following the alleged use of Pegasus spyware against journalists, politicians, law enforcement officials, diplomats, lawyers, businessmen, civil society activists and other citizens, the European Parliament decided in March to set up a new committee of inquiry. The aim is to investigate the use of this software and other surveillance spyware and whether such use violates EU law and fundamental rights. The final report by the Commission is planned to be submitted after 12 months.
