- The conflict in Ukraine may be protracted and the country depends on international support to counter Russian aggression. That is why the government decided to hand over the Mistral air defense system to Ukraine, says Defense Minister Bjørn Arild Gram.

Earlier, the government decided to hand over a total of 4000 anti-tank missiles as well as several types of protective equipment and other military equipment. Several other countries also donate weapons and other equipment to Ukraine. These countries include Poland, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, the Netherlands, Germany, the Baltic States and the United States.
Mistral air defense system for Ukraine
The Mistral system is used on deminers and corvettes. This is the type of air defense that the Norwegian Armed Forces plan to replace. It will therefore not have a major impact on the country's operational capacity.
- These missiles will be withdrawn by the Norwegian armed forces, but it is still a modern and effective weapon that will bring great benefits to Ukraine. Other countries have also donated similar weapons systems, says the Minister of Defense.
The weapon has already been shipped from the country to Ukraine.
