The availability of parking at Maxbo Vækerø in Oslo has already been raised many times by Askersposten portal. In recent years, journalists have taken steps to change this state of affairs. They even contacted the management of Maxbo Vækerø about this. So far, no results.
"Nobody Does Likewise"
Market Maxbo Vækerø is located right on the seafront in Oslo. Residents are surprised by the fact that the owners of the facility do not provide a large parking lot, even after the store's working hours. Oscar Pedersen, who is the chairman of the district council, is also surprised by this state of affairs.

– “We have a large unused area right by the sea in Oslo. It is not possible to use the parking lot at the supermarket. I don't know if any other company does something similar. This is even more incomprehensible because the owner of Maxbo - Løvenskiold Vækerø - describes itself as a socially responsible company. In this location they have the opportunity to become part of the community by sharing parking place residents. This is particularly important for disabled and elderly people. I will again invite Maxbo's managers to talks on this matter," says Pedersen in an interview with Askersposten.
Closed even during closing hours
For Pedersen, it is also incomprehensible that the parking lot at Maxbo is closed even when the market is closed. In his opinion, the opening of the car park will be a great help, especially for elderly and disabled residents who want to get to the seaside. As he announced, "we are going to take up the topic of public access to the parking lot at Maxbo again." He further stressed that these efforts do not contradict the city's policy of encouraging residents to travel by public transport.

"It's a private property"
Askersposten journalists sent an official inquiry to Maxbo's manager Løvenskiold Vækerø. The answer came from the managing director of the store, Jens-Fredrik Jalland. In it he claims that: “This is private property. Maxbo is open until 21:00 on weekdays and until 18:00 on Saturdays. During these hours, customers and employees use the car park. Outside of working hours, we do not allow the use of this place, because in the past, users left behind garbage, abandoned cars and garbage trailers. We couldn't control it, ”says Jalland.

Members of the Oslo canoe club also say they need parking at Maxbo. The club's management tried to contact Løvenskiold Vækerø, but the talks did not bring any results. Oscar Pedersen will make another attempt to solve the problem and to this end he will address specific proposals to the manager of Maxbo. We are waiting for the effects of these actions.
