Retirement pension from Norway may be available to us, Poles working here. We often wonder if we will have the right to it after working for a few or several years and how much it will really be. It is worth knowing that NAV is responsible for the calculation and payment of this benefit.

Retirement pension from Norway - when is it due?

Norwegian pension rights every person who is a member of the Norwegian pension scheme is entitled to it. Therefore, they are entitled to everyone who has reached the age of 16 and has had an income for at least 3 years that contributed to the Norwegian social system. Retirement from Norway it can be collected after the age of 62, but the benefit will be lower. Full retirement is granted only after reaching the age of 67. We acquire rights to it after working 40 years in the Country of Fjords.

Minimum pension from Norway

It is worth knowing that it is valid minimum pension from Norway (Norwegian minste pensionsnivå). We acquire rights to it after working for 3 years in this country - provided that we paid pension contributions to NAV. The amount of this benefit is then proportionally lower.

What is important, minimum pension from Norway it depends not only on the length of service, but also on marital status. Married or cohabiting people can count on a higher benefit than single people. The Norwegian law updates the amount of the annual lowest benefit every year. From May 1, 2018, it ranges from NOK 153 to NOK 514. NAV considers each case individually.

Retirement pension from Norway - calculation rules

Height pensions from Norway is calculated taking into account many factors. The most important of them include the following:

  • 18,1% of the income obtained in each calendar year from an employment contract or from running a business,
  • benefits: for the unemployed, sickness, rehabilitation, care and disability benefits,
  • completed military service has an impact on increasing the pension,
  • unpaid job as a tutor.

It is worth remembering that the pension capital may be increased from the age of 16 to 75. In practice, therefore, the longer we work, the higher the benefit will be.

Retirement from Norway to Poland

It's good to know that pension from Norway can be charged in Poland. The basic condition, however, is the obligation to stay in the Land of Fjords for at least 6 months after retirement. However, if you have only worked for some time in this country, this still affects the amount of your benefit in Poland. This is because when calculating the amount of the old-age pension in our country, all periods of work and residence in all EU and EEA countries are taken into account. This is guaranteed by signed international agreements.
