Polish health care is associated with everyone with long queues to specialists, slowness of action and generally - low efficiency. The real state of health care in Poland is best illustrated by the OECD / EC report "Health at Glance 2018". Although it is in the middle of the ranking in most categories, there are categories in which Poland closes the stake.
Polish health protection in the report
OECD is an abbreviation for International Economic Cooperation and Development. It is an organization with an economic profile and currently focuses 36 member countries from various parts of the world. One of them is Poland. Few family doctors
Anyone who has ever had contact with the Polish health service will confirm that there is a shortage of specialists in Poland. However, according to the OECD study - there are also very few family doctors here compared to the EU. They constitute only 9% of the total staff medical examination. A lower ratio occurs only in Greece, where it is 5%. The EU average is 23%.
There are few doctors, but they are overworked
Lack of sufficient medical staff is not only a nuisance, but generally low efficiency health service. This is the danger of overworking the doctors themselves. As it turns out, in Poland it is on average 3104 patients per year on one doctor. That's an average of over 8 people a day, assuming that the doctor works 365 days a year. It is worse only in Slovakia (3311 patients) and Hungary (3457 patients).

On the opposite side there is the Swedish health system. There, one doctor sees an average of 679 patients a year, that is ... two a day. The EU average is and 2147 patients per year.
Problem with drug financing
As it turns out, not only related issues strict with doctors belong to problematic. It's the same with medications. While on average, EU countries subsidize drugs at the level of 64%, is on average in Poland 66% of drugs we have to pay themselves. The situation is similar in Lithuania, however it is only worse in Bulgaria and Cyprus.

Polish health care - it's not good
Polish health protection it cannot boast of the best efficiency. It is also worse in Poland than in other EU countries in other aspects health serviceincluding too low ratio digitization, too little time spent patients, etc. For these reasons Polish public health care sector it is rated as one of the worst in Europe. They only complain more patients in Greece. On the opposite side of the list, there are countries such as Austria, Luxembourg, Malta and Germany.
