A technical breakdown of the toll system through Jæren meant that many drivers were charged too much during peak hours. Now tens of millions will be returned to drivers and the toll will be suspended.
Incorrectly calculated fees The kid
Earlier this year, drivers passing through Jæren were hit by an incorrect rush-hour quota. In the opinion of people belonging to the group managing the municipal fee for the above-mentioned ride, the number of errors that have been made is unimaginable and even unacceptable. Work is currently underway to improve the systemwhich led to the whole situation. At the same time, all incorrectly calculated fees up to 1 October will be returned.

The price of error
The monthly income from the Jæren toll is NOK 16 million. Deputy Director General Norwegian Road Administration Public, Terje Moe Gustavsen says: “Currently, everything paid during peak hours from October 1 is refunded. This does not mean that drivers are paying too much.”

Suspension of the fee
System failure fees will have very large consequences economic. Currently, it is planned to abolish the toll during peak hours Jæren from 10 December until the system is improved. This, says Gustavsen, will take place in January.
System operation
The tolling system is based on the fact that the driver pays only for the first trip during rush hour. At the moment when he passes subsequent stations, he is no longer obliged to pay further charges if his first ride was recorded before 7:00 am or 15:00 pm. The problem with a system failure is that the first trip and the toll were often not recorded.
