Yesterday, the city center of Gdańsk was filled with a thousand inhabitants of Gdańsk who met to send “A Light for Paweł” to heaven using flashlights and other light sources. The meeting was a tribute to the murdered president of Gdańsk, Paweł Adamowicz, but also a protest against aggression and hatred.

"Light for Paweł"

The meeting, attended by a thousand inhabitants of Gdańsk, began just before 20:00 pm. The place of the event was the Gdańsk Wielki Market. It was at this market that, exactly one week ago, the final of the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity took place, during which the president of Gdańsk, Paweł Adamowicz, was attacked and stabbed several times. All the people gathered that day, who wanted to pay tribute to the murdered with their presence, stood for a few minutes in silence, shining various light sources into the sky. "A light for Paweł", according to the information provided by the Gdańsk police, over a thousand people sent that day.

A beautiful event

The organization of the event began on Facebook. It was there that the event was organized, the aim of which was primarily to pay tribute to the murdered president of Gdańsk, but also to protest against the blatant aggression and hatred. "Light for Paweł" did not take place only in Gdańsk. After the tragic events that took place on the 27th WOŚP finals, in many Polish cities, yesterday around 20 p.m., city residents met to send a light to heaven for Paweł Adamowicz.
