The states of the Midwest are struggling with historically cold temperatures in recent times. North Dakota had temperatures of -54 degrees C on Wednesday, while Australia had the warmest January in its history.

Record temperatures

The great heat wave that recently hit Australia meant that January turned out to be the warmest month in the history of this country. For the first time, an average temperature in the country of over 30 degrees was recorded there. Some US states cannot enjoy the same as Midwestern states struggle with historically low temperatures. Record temperature it fell in the city of Grand Forks in North Dakota, reaching a cold of -54 degrees.

Giant temperature difference

Considering the high temperatures in Australia as well as the low ones in the US, the contrast between them may be shocking. The highest recorded temperature in Australia was 49,5 degrees north of Adelaide and 47,7 degrees in the city itself. In contrast, in the Midwest, temperatures range from -30 to -35 degrees, with an average of 46 degrees. The real difference between such temperatures varies between 80 and 90 degrees, so it is close to 100.

Global warming effect

Experts say what is happening in Australia today is an effect of global warming. The rise in temperatures in this country has been noticeable since over 70 years of the twentieth century. This year in January, Australia not only experienced record temperatures, but its residents could also complain about very little rainfall, as only 20% of the rainfall that usually fell during this period fell in January.

Standby

Due to such low temperatures in the US, many states have been put on standby. The subway and commuter trains run much less frequently than before, and for the homeless, who are most exposed to the danger of freezing, buses have been released to the city that can be accessed and warmed up.
