Big increases and changes await property owners, especially those whose properties are located in large cities in Norway - such as the capital of Oslo or Bergen. They will pay a record high tax in 2019. Taxes doubled under the Progress Party (Frp) and Høyre.
Survey of Norwegian residents on property tax
A special survey was recently conducted among the inhabitants of Norway. The survey was organized by Huseierne, an association of property owners (422 communes took part in the survey). According to the results, in 2019, as many as 286 municipalities will demand collection real estate tax. The tax will be deducted from owners:
- houses,
- flats,
- holiday homes.
The surveys carried out clearly showed that it will be collected this year in the mentioned communes Property tax in the total amount of CZK 7,9 billion. 400 million more than last year. The years 2017-2019 were breakthrough for Norwegian municipalities - they increased taxes very significantly.
Property tax hits the Norwegian community
The Norwegian public is against raising the tax, the respondents believe that it affects the welfare of citizens and discourages investment in real estate.
- Property owners consider property tax to be anti-social because household income, debt and ability to pay are not taken into account when calculating it, confirms Morten Andreas Meyer of Huseierne in a comment added to the report.
The amount of tax that will be transferred to major Norwegian cities is as follows:
- 620 million Oslo crowns,
- 592 million Bergen,
- 505 million kroner Trondheim.
Forecasts for the coming years are not optimistic as this amount is likely to increase all the time.
