When does Norway refund the tax?

If your 2018 tax settlement in Norway it did not contain any irregularities, and all calculations were done correctly - the first tax refund date will be in June. The next rounds of sending funds due by Skatteetaten will take place in August and October.

Other important dates

It is not only important to know when Norway returns the tax. It is also worth being aware of other key dates that are important from the point of view of every taxpayer. These include in particular:

  • 1 March - this was the deadline by which to register in the Altinn system;
  • April 4 - on this day the Norwegian Tax Office starts sending paper invoices. However, for people using Altinn, this is the date on which they will get theirs skateboarding;
  • April 30 – deadline for submission settlement tax;
  • May 31st - if for some reason you haven't been able to settle your payments by the end of April, you can probably still have your payments by the end of May. ATTENTION! Before you take advantage of the extended settlement period, you should first submit an appropriate application to the Tax Office;
  • June 20 - the date on which the Norwegian Tax Office approves the submitted settlements for 2018;
  • December 16 - The Norwegian Tax Office issues new tax cards on this day as early as 2020.

Skatteoppjør - what is it?

After submitting the return, each taxpayer will receive from the Tax Office a document called skatteoppjør. This is the final tax return that Skatteetaten always announces on several dates. As a rule, at the end of June, they are received by retirees and people whose testimonies submitted by the end of April did not contain errors and write-offs, which require complicated calculations. The next round is in August with the final date falling on October 25.

The sooner the better

The tax settlement deadline is April 30, so there is still a little over a month left. Considering the possibility of extending this period until the end of May, it would seem that we have even more time. However, experts recommend that you delay this action until the last moment. When Norway returns the tax also depends on how quickly the complete tax documentation is submitted. Sometimes completing it causes many problems, so it is worth using the help of professionals for this purpose.
