Until recently, this company was a small extension to the Volvo concern. Today, however, they announce intensive expansion into the electric car market and want to compete with the biggest tycoon in the industry - Tesla. Polestar introduces a model that has been baptized as Polestar 2.

Polestar - a new player on the market

The Polestar company is a project developed in the Sino-Swedish partnership. The company made its debut on the automotive market in 2017, when it presented the first model in its offer - the hybrid Polestar 1. As the designers themselves say, it was an uncompromising solution in terms of both design and technological solutions. Polestar 2 is to be an even more groundbreaking solution.

Attractive design

The Sino-Swedish project intends to compete directly with Tesla and its Model 3. It is not difficult to guess the nature of the latest Polestar 2. It is a five-door car based on the CMA platform (shared with, among others, Volvo CX40). The body is finished in the spirit of fastback, which can be seen from the large trunk lid at the rear of the car. By the way, there is a huge cargo space with a capacity of 404 liters. The entire body line is consistently inspired by Volvo's conceptual design, named 40.1 and 40.2, respectively.

400 horses under the hood

Design is not everything. Polestar 2 is advertised as a vehicle in which the designers used uncompromising technological solutions. There are therefore two engines under the hood that deliver exactly 408 horsepower and a torque of 660 Nm. What is connected with it? Demonic acceleration that is 4,7 seconds to 100 km / h.

Competitive ranges

What sets Polestar 2 apart is not its streamlined design or excellent performance. The designers placed the greatest emphasis on the range, which is the biggest problem of most electric cars. In this case, the company has nothing to be ashamed of, because its Polestar 2 is expected to be in able to travel 500 km on a single charge. However, these parameters were based on WLTP. This means that the average user can count on ranges that are approximately 60 - 70 km lower.

Polestar 2 will conquer the market?

Market electric cars There are many revolutions yet to come. The industry is still developing and has great prospects, so it can be assumed that more and more automotive concerns will think about their own innovative solutions. Does the Sino-Swedish Polestar 2 project have a chance to successfully compete with the Tesla Model 3? There are many indications that a company is finally able to offer the benefit that the current tycoon had until now. This applies to the range, which is currently the most frequently taken into account parameter in the debate about the attractiveness of "electrics".
