How much is earned in Norway in 2019?

This is a question that worries everyone who decides to emigrate to this country for work. Salaries in the country of fjords in Polish zloty seem to be very attractive. Even taking into account the lowest paid professions.

How much you earn in Norway 2019 can be deduced to some extent from official statistics. The authority responsible for collecting and publishing this information is the Statistical Office of Norway (SSB), which provides the relevant documents on its website. The latest report is from February 2019 and shows that:

  • the average salary in Norway is NOK 43 540;
  • men earn an average of NOK 45 760;
  • women can expect a salary of NOK 40 790.

As it turns out, average earnings in Norway also depend on age. People under 25 (NOK 28) can count on the lowest wages, while the amounts for men (NOK 160) are higher than the amounts for women (NOK 28). Experience pays off, which is clearly visible in the average salaries - people aged 860-27 are the best-paid group that could count on an average of NOK 230 per month. Although this rule does not apply to women (NOK 55) who earn less than men (NOK 66).

Subsequently, earnings depending on age are as follows:

  • under 25: NOK 28 160, including NOK 28 860 men and NOK 27 230 women;
  • 25 - 39 years: NOK 40 260, including NOK 41 730 for men and NOK 38 790 for women;
  • 40 - 54 years: 47 870 NOK, including NOK 50 720 for men and NOK 44 450 for women;
  • 55 - 66 years: NOK 48 380, including NOK 52 320 for men and NOK 43 560 for women;
  • over 66: NOK 44 920, including NOK 47 720 for men and NOK 39 140 for women.

Which districts earn the most in Norway?

Interestingly, depending on the district, how much you earn in Norway in 2019 changes. The best three administrative units in this respect are:

  1. Oslo: 48 NOK.
  2. Rogaland: NOK 45 550.
  3. Akershus: NOK 44.

In turn, the lowest salaries can be counted in these regions:

  1. Oppland: NOK 39.
  2. Hedmark: 39 NOK.
  3. Sogn of Fjordane: 39 NOK.

Wages in Norway by industries

The issue of how much is earned in Norway 2019 also depends on the individual industry. Employees in the mining sector (NOK 61) can count on the highest salary. People employed in the financial and insurance sectors (NOK 950) and IT specialists (NOK 58) are slightly better. On the other side there are people who have found employment in the hotel and catering industry (NOK 470), agriculture (NOK 56) and business services (NOK 140).
