Svein Mobakken, head of security at the Norwegian Tax Office (Skatteetaten), recommends increased vigilance. Fill out your PIT, be careful with your personal data, don't be fooled!

PIT 2018 online - what does it look like in practice?
On April 4, it will start sending up to 4,9 million taxpayers, a draft of their tax returns. During this period, the Norwegians may receive false e-mails allegedly from Skatteetaten - with the promise of a positive tax return and a large refund.
Svein Mobakken - representative of the Tax Office in Norway in the press announcement provides:
“We never include any links in our messages and we never ask you to click on them. We also never ask taxpayers to provide any banking or credit card information. "
Svein Mobakken also asks for a quick response and support for the common good:
“We ask all those who feel they have received suspicious messages to contact us. Thanks to this, we will be able to react and warn the public against the spread of fraud attempts. "
Communication with the Tax Office takes place only after logging into a special panel - other attempts to contact should be received with skepticism by citizens.
. Tax settlement in Norway and a wave of fraud
Phishing in Norway (and elsewhere) is becoming more common. Last year, 11 phishing waves were registered - the fraudsters impersonated the Norwegian tax services.
PIT 2018 in Norway - the basics of safe tax settlement:
- Check the messages you receive carefully. The sender's data, information contained in the e-mail, SMS messages,
- Compare the address of the sender of the message and the official addresses of the Tax Office,
- Pay attention to the language of the message - linguistic errors, inaccuracies, disturbing content,
- You are asked in the message to provide confidential data (for your accounts, login details), be especially careful,
- Ignore suspicious attachments, don't open them. Also, do not click on links from unknown sources,
- Do not click on suspicious links, especially via mobile devices.
Taxpayer! Don't be scammed! The Tax Office warns. To sum up: settle accounts in Norway, quickly and safely!
