We would like to remind you that April 30 is the last day to submit PIT to the Norwegian Tax Office. If, for various reasons, you have not settled your settlement yet, we advise you to hurry up. “The clock is ticking” – today we will say a few words about the consequences of failing to settle your taxes on time. We will also tell you what discounts you can take advantage of. Filing your taxes in Norway can be simple. 

Tax settlement in Norway – what about “latecomers”?

Haven't settled your taxes by May 1? You may have serious problems. What can await you if you don't settle your accounts? tax in Norway at a specific time?

  • you will have to pay back the accrued amount tax refund,
  • you will be responsible for errors on skattemelding,
  • you will temporarily or permanently lose the opportunity to benefit from tax reliefs and deductions,
  • you will say goodbye to the settlement of the relief – 10%.

Taxes in Norway - what discounts can you take advantage of?

  • pendler – people with pendler status can deduct, among other things travel costs to Poland, food, etc. Condition: to obtain the pendler status you must work in Norway, have a family (wife and child up to 22 years of age) in other country. When applying for a copy, you must document your returns to your home country over the last 12 months.
  • parental copy – if you have a child up to 12 years of age, staying in your home country.
  • interest on mortgage loan in Poland - however, it should be noted that this deduction cannot be combined with the 10% relief.
  • 10% discount - for people who do not use a pendler, no; they have traveled to the country for the last 3 years, paying for their own accommodation and meals.

It is worth noting that from next year they will be able to receive 10% relief use only person working at sea ((sailors, off-shore workers).
