Before the employer sends an employee on assignment outside his/her place of residence, the issues of food and accommodation should be agreed. Generally, the employer must provide food and accommodation, but a fixed allowance rate can be agreed, payment based on invoice and the like.

Obligation to cover travel, food and accommodation costs applies only to travel within Norway.

In the case of employees who carry out road transport of goods (vehicles with a total weight over 3,5 tons) as part of transport orders with planned accommodation. The allowance is paid according to what Norwegian authorities each time they consider it tax-free per day. For the first 8 hours you pay 1/3 of the per diem rate.
