It is here - patients have constant access to treatment at the highest level, consultations with specialists with a really good reputation. While we all wish ourselves good health, it is worth knowing your rights regarding primary care in Norway. The Norwegian health service is to help you and your loved ones.

The Norwegian health service is paid!

We have to pay for medical care (own contribution - egenandel) - but... only up to a certain amount. In 2018, this amount is DKK 2025 and DKK 2285 depending on the type of treatment. After exceeding it, the patient receives you get a free card treatment of the so-called frikort. Thanks to it, each subsequent visit is free of charge. Pregnant women under special care ...

The Norwegian state and the Norwegian health service provide special care to pregnant women. A pregnant woman will not pay for the tests check-ups with your family doctor or midwife. 2 tests are free of charge Ultrasound, at the end of the 3rd month and around the 7th month. Birth, stay of mother and child in hospital there is no fee involved. The young mother, of course, receives a special layette.

E-waivers and prescriptions? It's already a standard in Norway

When are e-prescriptions available in Poland? sick leave are just emerging - Norway is a country where such a solution is already a standard. All data during your visit medical records are entered into a special system. The patient has access to the prescription 2 minutes after leaving the office and can fill it at any pharmacy. A home visit can be ordered by phone, text message or via a special patient application. Sick leaves, the "circulation" of the document among the most important institutions is also very efficient. After the doctor's visit, the doctor issues a sick leave, which is sent to the Altinn system. The employer and the Labor Office can download all documents directly from the system. According to the regulations  employer pays for the first 16 days of illness. After this period has expired NAV takes over the benefits i.e. the Labor Office.

Using the Norwegian health service, without knowledge of Norwegian or English, we have the right to use the help of an interpreter during a visit to a specialist. This need should be reported a few days before the planned visit.
