Oslo - explore the capital of Norway. Do you live in the country of fjords? Or maybe you are planning a trip to Oslo from Poland? Every opportunity is good to visit the beautiful capital, which impresses with its remarkable architecture. Oslo - formerly known as Christiania or Kristiania, the objectively small Oslo is the capital and largest city of Norway. It is located in the south-east of the country at the mouth of four large rivers - Lysaker, Aker, Alna and Gjersjø - to the Oslofjorden Bay. It is worth spending a weekend here or even jumping out for a while.

Start your visit from the main pedestrian street, Karl Johans Gate, Slottsparken and the Royal Palace, and head towards the train station, admiring the National Theater and Parliament along the way. The purpose of this journey? The undisputed symbol of the city - the National Opera. Being there, you must go to its characteristic, sloping roof, which is a great vantage point over the waterfront and the Barcode office complex. Admiring the cool coast, you can move your mind to one of the famous Scandinavian crime novels.

To feel the rhythm of the city, you need to visit the trendy Aker Brygge district, passing the City Hall and the Nobel Peace Center on the way. Hence, close to the so-called The Island of Thieves, once infamous, today a luxurious district where you can swim and sunbathe in the summer. If not, you can always see the Oslo skyline from the Tjuvtitten dock tower. Oslo public transport - it is worth using it while visiting. 

Unconquered fortress? Naked sculptures? Welcome to Oslo!

History lovers also have plenty to see here. First of all, it is worth the pearl of the country's cultural heritage - Akerhus, a medieval castle complex situated in greenery, once created for defensive purposes, effective, because despite numerous sieges, it was never conquered. You can come across one of the frequently held celebrations or a concert here.

For those who appreciate beautiful views and sculpture at the same time, the largest park in the world awaits, full of works by only one artist - Gustaw Vigeland, from whom it takes its name. Visitors can find 200 sculptures of nude figures of different ages and poses, made of bronze, granite and wrought iron. It is worth taking a closer look at them - some of them are interesting and even controversial. Who will not have enough art, can count on an encounter with the works of the famous Edward Munch. And in the evening it is worth climbing the Ekeberg hill and enjoying the view of Oslo bathed in the sun.
