The EU is responding to the NAV scandal. The European Commission gets caught in the NAV scandal. ESA President Bente Angell-Hansen confirms clearly and explicitly that the European Commission is now involved in the work on the NAV scandal. ESY's task? Above all, it must ensure equal treatment of the citizens of Norway and the entire EU in matters of social support and social security. ESA is a monitoring body and checks whether countries such as Norway and Iceland comply with the principles of internal security and the work of state offices. If they observe any irregularities, they must act. As a reminder, the problem concerns unjustly imposed penalties on beneficiaries living outside Norway.
The EU responds to the NAV scandal - equal rights for all
Angell-Hansen, the president of ESA in an interview for VG, says bluntly: “The common EEA rules have the advantage that everyone living in the EEA should be treated equally. An individual obtains rights even if they live and work in a country other than their home country. And that's good. "
The scale of the problem can be really large and concern not only the inhabitants of Norway, but also all EU citizens. Unfortunately, problems with the payment of benefits are not an individual problem. In addition, we no longer live in one place, we change countries of residence - and there, too, we have the right to benefit from the benefits we are entitled to.
Is the ESA working well?
According to experts, the fact that NAV has wrongly imposed penalties (including imprisonment) is a major failure of this body as a monitor. A letter has been drawn up to the European Commission Commission requesting that all NAV victims receive the compensation they deserve.
Case pending!
The EU is responding to the NAV scandal. NAV has until December 3 to send a special report to the European Commission on work to remedy the situation. A word of explanation is essential here, as some of the victims did not even report to NAV, but to the ESA headquarters itself. We hope that the matter will clear up in the near future with a positive result for everyone. We will follow this topic. The situation itself is presented in more detail in the publication: Recipients of social assistance - unfair punishments!
