125 thousand. This is exactly how many lamps illuminate the magical, glowing tree, which is a gift to Oslo from billionaire Stein Erik Hagen. The billionaire bought them in 2017 during the Burning Man festival in the USA. The Glowing Tree is the work of Alexander Green. The glowing tree is nearly 14 meters high and illuminated by 125 LED lights. This is a new attraction that you can admire while passing through Trettenparken in the Filipstad district.

Official opening of the attraction

The official opening of this unique installation will take place on December 1. A concert accompanied by a light show is planned. The glowing tree, thanks to a huge number of LED diodes, will effectively illuminate Trettenparken. Meaning that, this place will stand become not only more visually attractive, but also safer.

A glowing tree in Oslo: not forever

Trettenparken is not a place that will remain in Oslo forever. The same applies to the glowing tree that will be located there. We will be able to admire the installation for five years. For this time, an agreement was concluded with Stein Erik Hagen, who is the donor of this unique and original installation.

The glowing tree will not be the only attraction of Trettenparken

In addition to the glowing tree, there will also be other attractions in Trettenparken. It will include, among others skatepark, benches where you can sit as well as exercise equipment. Trettenparken is supposed to be a very ecological place. Due to the fact that it is not a permanent place, it was decided to use artificial plants. In addition to the glowing tree, there will therefore be artificial palm trees. Artificial grass has already been laid.

To sum up! What are the creators' intentions?

The creators of Trettenparken primarily want to save vegetation, which would have to be transplanted elsewhere in a few years anyway. Artificial vegetation can be moved elsewhere without harming further development. In the case of live plants, this certainty cannot be guaranteed. The biggest advantage of this solution, however, is that Trettenparken will be green all year round.
