Pakistan: Norway flag burned. We have already written more than once that the leader of the SIAN organization publicly burned the Koran. The incident sparked a wave of protests from Muslim communities. Norwegian police also considered the burning of the Koran a hate crime. The Norwegian flag was burned during the protest on Tuesday in Pakistan. Protesters argue that this is their opposition to the burning of the Koran. What do we know more about this?

Pakistan: Norway flag burned. Protest!

National and religious symbols are very important elements for any community. It is therefore no wonder that the act of burning the Koran has met with such a wave of criticism. Muslim communities are outraged. They reported the act to the police as a hate crime. People from outside the Muslim community also expressed their opposition, e.g. on social media. In Pakistan, however, there was a protest. Its participants, in retaliation for the burning of the Koran, publicly set fire to the Norwegian flag. The Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, however, is very distant from the whole matter. Its representatives claim that such acts may be the beginning of a much more serious conflict. They suggest that in such situations, dialogue is best.

Burning of the Norwegian flag - retaliation for the burning of the Koran

The act of burning the Quran was also opposed by the Turkish government. This does not mean, however, that the Turkish government approves of the burning of the Norwegian flag. Both acts, according to government representatives, are not praiseworthy. Moreover, they may be considered crimes. Just like the Norwegian government, Türkiye believes that such actions may cause a conflict. Both protest actions were radically condemned.
