. Controversial? Maybe for some people it is. The school principal in Jordan believes that this is an excellent idea and gesture towards people who do not celebrate Christmas in a traditional way. The world is changing - there are more and more families in Norway, and therefore also children with different challenges or non-believing families. During this time, the school organizes special activities for children and lots of attractions. How will the classes be conducted?

– throughout the holiday season

The school will be open not only on Christmas Eve, but also on all public holidays. The headmaster of the school, Halvor Holm, in an interview with Nettavisen said:

“A lot of people think it's a great idea. Many students do not want to walk on empty and cold streets when everything is closed. The school in Jordal has approximately 500 students. Most of them cultivate Christmas traditions. Students who do not do this, and there are about 40-50 of them, will be welcome at school during the holidays. What we are preparing will be fun for everyone. There will be a treasure hunt and giveaways. We do not plan to conduct teaching classes. This will not be an 'alternative Christmas', but an offer for those who do not celebrate this holiday."

– who will finance the project!

Of course, when the school will be open during the holidays - teachers, guardians and pedagogues will also be required to work similarly. Paying them Christmas wages obviously involves costs. Holiday meals provided to students during this time will also be an expense. Who will finance this special project? From what pool of money will employees be paid? The school principal confirmed that he was applying for special funding for this purpose.

“We applied for financial support from the education department of the Oslo municipality. We assume that we will receive such support. However, the school will definitely be open, regardless of whether financial aid is provided or not.”
