Schools and kindergartens

All schools and kindergartens in Norway are closed. This is to avoid the spread of the virus and to contribute to the maintenance of essential health and care services.

A decision to close has been issued and it is valid from Thursday, March 12 at 18:00 p.m. to Thursday, March 26, 2020. The closure applies to:

  • Before school
  • Elementary schools
  • Secondary schools
  • Upper secondary schools
  • Universities and colleges
  • Other educational institutions.

Exceptions apply

It is important to maintain activities in health services and other vital institutions in the service of society and to contain the spread of the Coronavirus.

Therefore, an additional solution should be provided for the children of medical personnel, the transport sector or other important functions of society. The same applies to children with special care needs, which cannot be provided when schools or kindergartens are closed.

, but not only. The Norwegian Directorate of Health also issued a ban:
