In June 2019, a 27-year-old man in the Nedre Romerike District Court was sentenced to 16 years in prison for online rape of at least 458 boys.
The 27-year-old man pretended to be "Sandra" and "Henriette" girls. To the victims, who were very young, the accused offered sweets, expensive items and money as payment for photos and videos, he received. He offered sex to several older victims.
False identity
The case came to light when the police received a report from a worried mother in June 2016. She suspected that the "Sandra" her son was talking to on the Internet was not who she said she was.
The man was arrested but later released. It then continued to use under a new identity.
The police continued to investigate the case, but at the time were unaware of how extensive the case would turn out to be.
Before the investigation was completed, the police discovered abuse of at least 458 boys.
Growing needs
Through the campaign and curriculum Delbart, Kripos focused on sharing nude photos and online abuse. The target group are young people aged 13 to 16.
But the Romerike case, where the youngest victims were only ten years old, showed a growing need to delve even deeper.
Kripos fears a new abuse case will be the size of the 2016 case, and now takes action.
It is very important to the parents themselves paid attention to what was happening in front of computers or mobile devices with their children. Let us remember that it is up to us, the parents, to decide whether the reaction will be early enough. We should report such cases immediately to the police.
A lot of victims
During the trial in Romerike, police said they would never have discovered the case had she not been notified. Ytterdal says it is potentially very serious that victims do not report such attacks.
The police overseer said parents and adults had a key role to play.
We think it is very important that parents are informed about this. Research showsthat parents know little about what their children are exposed to. But if a young person comes to them, it is important that he gets good help, and this does not mean that he is only deprived of phone mobile phone, he says.
More younger children use social media and they understand consequences less than older children. It is easier to be deceived and easier to be naive and gullible in what they receive. Children up to school age primary are much more exposed and are more susceptible.
It is known that our children will not want to tell our parents about such a situation. We should start talking to them ourselves and make them aware that sending photos is bad. Contact between a parent and a child is the most important. Let us take care of ourselves by devoting an appropriate amount of time to family contacts. Always report such situations to the Police
