Change of address Folkeregisteret. How to report?

If you live in Norway for more than 6 months, you must report a change of address to the Population Registration Office. How to do it? What deadlines apply? Is there a lot of paperwork involved? We encourage you to read the text.

Change of address Folkeregisteret - when should I notify?

Remember that a change of address should be reported in three cases:

  • change of residence in Norway,
  • modification of the correspondence address,
  • departure from Norway for a period longer than 6 months.

It is worth noting that the change of place of residence must also be reported at the post office. Otherwise, our correspondence will not be redirected to the new address. The change of the address of residence must be notified within 8 days of the date of the move.

I have been in Norway for less than 6 months. Then what?

While staying in In Norway, for less than 6 months, we do not have to report the change place of residence. However, you must go to the Tax Office to obtain a tax card.
