Bergen and the surrounding municipalities are experiencing both the English variant of the coronavirus and the South African variant. Therefore, they have asked the government to tighten infection control measures.

The stricter measures apply from February 7, 2021, from 18 p.m. to February 00. Measures are implemented to give municipalities an overall view and control of the situation.

Contain and delay the spread of the most contagious Covid-19 variants

- We need to introduce stricter measures in the municipalities affected by the outbreaks of more contagious variants of the virus than in the rest of the country. We still aim to contain and delay the spread of these more contagious strains. The municipalities that were part of the outbreak in Nordre Follo are clear about this and I think Bergen and the surrounding municipalities will also be able to do so, says Health Minister Bent Høie.

The government can decide which measures are to be implemented in the municipality of Bergen and the surrounding municipalities. Rapid and coordinated implementation of measures to counter the spread of infection is essential.

"The communes of the ring 1" are the communes affected by the epidemic and those associated with the outbreak or having a strong contact with the commune affected by the epidemic.

Ring 2 communes are those in the peripheral zone of Ring 1 communes that also need to implement measures swiftly in the wake of an outbreak.

Which municipalities are in ring 1 and which are in ring 2?

The action level chosen for ring 1 and for ring 2 depends on the severity of the epidemic.

Currently, ring 1 includes municipalities. Bergen, Kvam and Ulvik, and Ring 2 has municipalities. Alver, Askøy, Bjørnafjorden, Eidfjord, Osterøy, Samnanger, Ullensvang, Vaksdal, Voss and Øygarden.
