Police in Norway's south-eastern police district check nearly 35 drivers for drunk driving every day. Every day throughout the year, three to four drivers are stopped and reported for drunk driving.
A total of 911 seizures of driving licenses
In 2020, a total of 911 driving license seizures were made in the South-East Police District. 683 of which were related to driving under the influence of alcohol. The detentions of other driving licenses were mainly related to serious speeding offenses.
Road accidents are one of our main problems

Changing attitudes of part of the population in their behavior on the road
A significant contribution to reducing the number road accidents is a change in the attitudes of part of the population in road behavior. In some environments it may seem that an aggressive style is acceptable driving and driving under the influence of alcohol. Police also record drivers warning each other via social media when police carry out roadside checks. In total, police patrols issued over 1300 simplified fines for traffic violations in the South East Police District in 2020.
