Healthcare workers who received the first dose of AstraZeneca will be exempt from entry quarantine into Norway.
The exception applies after a minimum of 3 weeks
Fully vaccinated medical staff who perform critical functions in hospitals or municipal health services are an exception and are exempt from quarantine during working hours. The exemption has now been extended to employees health service in critical roles who have received the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine. The exception applies a minimum of 3 weeks after the first dose.
Such a change is fully justified
The change is made on the basis of the recommendations of the National Institute Public Health, The Norwegian Health Directorate and the Norwegian Medicines Agency. Their assessment is such that it will be fully justified. Clinical trials show that the first dose of AstraZeneca provides good protection from 22 days to 12 weeks. The second dose is believed to be important as it provides broader and more lasting protection.
However, there are still some requirements for medical personnel
It is still required that medical personnel have a negative corona test result upon arrival in Norway. Medical personnel must wear a face mask and take extra care to keep their distance during quarantine. Medical personnel must be quarantined in their spare time. Document that the worker received the vaccine. The employer is responsible for obtaining and checking documentation.
