New shopping habits developed during the pandemic. Online shopping parcels are up 48 percent last year. The post office predicts that growth will continue also this year. Shipment volumes are now as high as they are on the holiday peak days. Parcel delivery constantly sets new records.
The pandemic has become the engine of online sales
- The pandemic served as a turbo engine for e-commerce. The large increase in the number of shipments from online purchases continues to grow. We are not used to this April. We are happy to have a lot of work to do, but now we have so many packages that we encourage customers to pick up packages as soon as possible, both in stores and in boxes. It should also be taken into account that there may be some delays now, says Kenneth Tjønndal Pettersen, Posten's press manager.
The post office works just like in the holiday peak
To pick up large quantities of parcels, the post office has now such staff as during the Christmas rush. There are several new electric cars to deliver packages to customers' doors.
-Already 1 million people have downloaded the Posten tracking app
The Posten app has been downloaded by over one million users. Norwegian Post encourages customers to actively use this to see where their parcel is along the way and be notified of any delays. People using the Posten application receive live information about shipments that are on their way and can more easily avoid misunderstandings related to fake e-mails.
