The Foreign Workers Service Center in Oslo is reopened.

On Tuesday, June 1, there was the official re-opening of the Foreign Workers Service Center (SUA) in Oslo, which is now under renovation. Additionally, the Center has increased security, service level and capacity. Oslo Police County Police Chief Beate Gangås and Head of Section and Head of SUA's Strategic Coordination Group in the Tax Administration, Gunn Åse Albinson, were honored to cut the ribbon on the reopening.

All this to shorten the total waiting time.

The reconstruction was carried out as part of the New Passports and Identity Cards (NIPD) project. The project will help the police to manage the entire area in a way that meets national and international security requirements. The entire shift also allowed the police to increase capacity in the form of three additional posts and accompanying staff. All this to shorten the total waiting time.

. Further development of police services

The year 2020 challenged the police, including: closing in spring 2020. However, the development of new digital solutions has made the flow matters at SUA in Oslo it was quickly resumed. Digital submission of applications meant that SUA Oslo Police received almost the same number of cases in 2020 as the previous year, 7983 applications compared to 8212 in 2019.

Applying without a personal visit to SUA

In early 2021, the guidelines for submitting applications without being present at SUA in person were revised to accommodate reduced attendance.

This means that from April 16, 2021, the scheme in UDI 2021-005 can only be used by employers, clients and their representatives on behalf of:

-skilled workers -service providers

- immediate family members (spouse, cohabitant, children) of skilled workers and service providers

- seasonal workers

Thanks to the use of digital solutions as well as the storage of biometric data, the police expect a significant reduction in waiting times at SUA in Oslo.

The foreign employee service center was established in cooperation between the Tax Office, Norwegian Labor Inspectorate, UDI and the police. SUA's goal is to make it easier for foreign workers to organize everything in one place, get guidance in several languages ​​and quickly start working in Norway.

In addition to Oslo, SUA is located in Stavanger, Bergen, Trondheim and Kirkenes.
