A Pole in his 40s has been accused of trying to smuggle large amounts of amphetamine across the border in Larvik. The whole thing happened earlier this year. The car was covered with magnetic stickers that made it look like it was from the pharmaceutical company Biontech. Customs officials found XNUMX kilograms of amphetamine in the top of the car. "There is no doubt that the car is marked in such a way that it should give the impression that it comes from a medical company," says prosecutor Håvard Kalvåg.
Biontech is best known for contributing to the development of the Pfizer vaccine.

The man has so far not explained anything to the police.

According to Kalvåg, 40 kilos of amphetamines on the street are a lot of doses to sell.
"This is a serious drug case, no doubt about it."
The large amount of drugs found means that the case is followed by a serious criminal law. The final limit in this recipe is 3 kilograms for this type of substance.
- This is the most serious punishment we have, but it is not a so-called exceptionally burdensome situation, says Kalvåg.
The amount of drugs seized may result in a penalty of up to 15 years in prison.

Kalvåg explains that people often try to smuggle in drugs by pretending to be different companies.
- This is nothing new, but you can see that we are in a crisis situation all over the world.
Kalvåg says it will also be a key point to raise in court.
The trial begins in Vestfold District Court on August 5. Until then, the man was held in custody.
The man's defense attorney, Sverre Sjøvold, does not comment on the matter.
