A pension in Norway is a solution for those who have lost their ability to work temporarily or completely. Every employee who earns sickness insurance income in Norway is entitled to it. To be eligible for it, several other circumstances must exist.
Pension in Norway - what is it?
Pension in Norway is a social benefit paid by NAV. The idea of this benefit is to compensate for part of the lost income that the employee would have received had he been able to work. What is important - people staying on pension are entitled to a Norwegian pension. This benefit is treated as income, It is also taxed. Its amount is influenced by both moving to another country and marital status. These funds are always paid out by the 20th of each month.

Who is eligible for a pension in Norway?
Pension in Norway is granted provided that the following conditions are met:
- age between 16 and 67 years old,
- belonging to the Norwegian social system,
- the incapacity for work must be caused by illness or injury, where it must be the only reason,
- person collecting pension is undergoing treatment,
- steps have been taken to enable you to return to work,
- the working capacity must be reduced by a minimum of 50%. However, in the case of receiving also the rehabilitation allowance, this capacity must be at least 40% lower, while the 30% lower working capacity applies to situations where pension in Norway is to be paid due to an accident at work or an occupational disease.
The amount of the pension
What height pension in Norway the entitlement depends on the degree of incapacity for work. The output rate is 100%. For example, if your working capacity is 40%, you will receive a 60% pension. Wherein pension in Norway is 66% of the average salary you received in in recent years five years.
Minimum pension in Norway
The Norwegian social system predicted the minimum amount of the pension. This is a solution for people who had low or no income. The marital status of the person entitled to this benefit is also important:
- in the case of living with a spouse or partner / partner, the lowest pension in Norway is 2,28 of the G base amount,
- if the spouse or partner also receives a pension, then its amount is 2,33 of the G base amount in both cases,
- single people can count on a payment of 2,44 of the base amount G.
Extras
Do annuities the following extras are also available:
- for a child up to 18 years of age,
- compensation paid due to the death of a partner,
- cancellation or reduction of obligations under student loan,
- cheaper public transport,
- housing allowance.
Can I work on a pension?

Worth knowingthat this is what pension in Norway will be granted to us also depends on our whereabouts. The following points are decisive:
- pension in Norway is granted provided that we stay in this country for at least 6 months a year. Shorter stay abroadthan 12 months does not affect its amount,
- stay outside borders of Norway longer than 12 months, results in loss of the right to the benefit,
- moving to another country that has a signed agreement with Norway on the social system, does not result in the loss of the right to a pension (this applies, among others, to Polish).
Worth knowingthat if we have been a member of the Norwegian welfare system for at least 20 years between the ages of 16 and 67, then pension in Norway we are entitled to it in every country. Each case of moving to another country must be reported to NAV, which will determine our rights to this benefit.
